PrivateBin is a project I respect, and this started from a simple maintenance question: what if the protocol stayed, but the PHP server went away? Binflare is the answer I built: the PrivateBin 2.1.0 wire format, reimplemented on Cloudflare Workers, D1, and R2, so a personal instance lives on a free tier instead of a server you patch forever.
Three things I would rather state than have you discover:
- Compatibility is the feature, and it is pinned: fixtures from the upstream 2.1.0 baseline, and a parity document listing every deliberate deviation (no JSON-LD, no shortener proxies, English and Simplified Chinese UI).
- There are no accounts, on purpose. Anyone who can reach an instance can create pastes; the encryption is the protection. Cloudflare Access is the documented route for a private instance.
- There is no Docker image yet. The Cloudflare one-click deploy is the ready path; Docker is future work.
The preview at binflare.199595.xyz runs the small tier deliberately (D1 only, rate-limited). Deploy your own from the README button for the full limits.
Happy to answer protocol, storage, or deployment questions here.
