Happy April Fool's Day! I created Big Tech Company as a platform to both entertain and educate people about the potential pitfalls and consequences of the ever-growing influence of technology in our lives. As someone who has been involved in the tech industry, I witnessed firsthand the rapid growth of AI-infused products and the often shortsighted approach to their development and deployment. This inspired me to create this website, with the help of AI tools like Midjourney and ChatGPT, to emphasize the importance of approaching technology with a critical eye. The website showcases a variety of satirical AI-infused products, which are both entertaining and cautionary reminders of the potential hazards these technologies pose to society. For instance, RugPull, a cryptocurrency scam network, humorously highlights the risks and downsides of unregulated digital currencies. Similarly, AdSearch, an ads-only search engine, provides a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the pervasive influence of advertising in our online experiences. These examples serve to provoke thought and discussion about the implications and potential misuse of AI and related technologies. These examples and others on the site aim to spark thought-provoking conversations about the ethical, social, and environmental implications of emerging technologies. My hope is that Big Tech Company will encourage people to think critically about the role of technology in our lives, and inspire a more responsible and thoughtful approach to its development and use.
