I created Bhaktee as a solo Indian engineer because I noticed that most habit apps failed to understand the nuances of Hindu sadhana, treating significant days like Ekadashi as equivalent to any other. I wanted to build a respectful "pocket temple" that avoids ad-filled spiritual content and "AI slop" in favor of hand-verified festival dates and scholar-reviewed lore. By integrating features like motion-controlled aarti and digital japa counters, I aimed to turn daily rituals into an engaging, gamified experience using XP and badges. Ultimately, I wanted to provide a dedicated tool for busy professionals and the diaspora to maintain their spiritual connection anywhere. My goal was to create a tool that respects the Dharma while making daily practice fun and relatable for everyone.1
