Every time I worked with AI, I found myself repeating the same instructions:
“Plan first. Don’t implement yet.”
“Only change what I asked for.”
“Test the main flows, fix bugs, and tell me what you actually verified.”
My system prompt kept getting longer, but different tasks needed different instructions.
So I built before-you-do: a small desktop tool for adding the right reminder before AI gets to work.
Here’s how it works:
1. Write your request in your AI chat.
2. Hold Alt and press H.
3. Use Left/Right to choose a role and Up/Down to select an instruction.
4. Release Alt to paste it. Review and send it yourself.
You describe WHAT to do. Your saved snippet adds HOW you want AI to approach it.
It includes 12 roles, editable snippets and usage scenarios, a customizable shortcut, and four languages: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
Your snippets stay on your computer. No AI API key is needed, and the app never sends your message for you.
Windows is the primary tested platform. Mac downloads are available but still need real-hardware testing. Builds are currently unsigned.
This won’t guarantee that AI follows every instruction. It simply makes your expectations easier to add without typing them again.
