@Percival actually yes: if we were to come to 500 Startups, what would there be for a music startup other than great growth/distribution help you could offer?
PS: I've scouted out the other music investments you've made, there might be some useful collaboration between us and some of your portfolio.

@Percival also, did you have showering facilities in the 500 premises? I could pick up the mail and brew coffee in the mornings.
@radikaalanssi
We a few mentors who are DJs or DJ fans that's for sure :) Other things include product help, understand how to scale a marketplace and fundraising.
We have done a few investments into the events and event booking industry. Perhaps better opportunities there for collab,
@radikaalanssi Ha! We don't have on-site showers but we probably should for our more "ripe" founders.

@Percival most definitely, and we already have a support for that through our RESTful API. Would want to learn more via email.
Oh yes, an addition to your first answer: I believe we would have a lot of things to work with as we are insanely growth/distribution hacking oriented. We do have a couple of very big things coming up shortly - would be the perfect time to add the extra level of power to the mixture.

Also, every startup that wants to stand out from the other gazillion product launches by booking a DJ or a band, hit me up at anssi@beatsy.co (we'll throw a startup discount for ya - and even find a particular DJ for you if not found on the platform).
Check out https://beatsy.co
PS: Mention ProductHunt/500 Startups in the message

You said that your primary markets are product launches, club gigs and other private events. What about weddings and teen events (like sweet 16s) [also, these are technically private events, but was wondering your feelings on marketing toward those segments for needed DJs, as well]? I'd think there would be huge opportunities in those markets.

@BryanPostelnek Brian, great question. We've actually seen a lot of sweet 16's booked through Beatsy - the last booking was past weekend.
Great tip buddy, let me know if you need something - I'm happy to help.

@radikaalanssi Very cool. I'm engaged (wedding will be sometime in this decade, probably...) and think this really helps with the process of booking awesome musical entertainment outside of the recommendations of the venues and saves time by "previewing" the DJs via the videos they've set up.
I'm sure you've got lots of thoughts on what you can add to the platform -- as this grows larger do you think you'll be adding ratings + the ability to put up your latest gigs (if they're public) or do you think that starts to shift the culture of the site in an unwanted direction?
Thanks for the offer to help! :D Love the site.

@BryanPostelnek Great to hear, bro. I wish nothing but the best for the both of you (being married is one of the best thing that can happen to one). We actually do have gigs and ratings, that are done by the event organizer. All of these factors help you as the booker decide whether or not to book an artist for your event. We've got some amazing DJs that have extensive experience in throwing wedding gigs. Just hit me up and I'll provide a few suggestions for you to look at.
Also, if you decide to try our service, I'd love to hear your comments as a user to build even a better and easier platform for you.

@BryanPostelnek to continue: one of our best producer/DJs - Fanu has a couple fresh gigs coming up: https://beatsy.co/artists/fanu
_that are public_
(also one of my personal favorites since I'm a huge broken beats / drum n bass fan myself)
@Percival to not make this question feel lonely: we could help the current and upcoming portfolio companies throw great product launches via Beatsy, if you are interested.
Our team is ready to help.
@radikaalanssi Whoops posted that one twice for some reason. You should be tapping into the startup parties out there. Help the over funded companies spend that $$$ :) Not sure how they are finding DJs beyond WoM and tweeting to ask friends.

@Percival short answer: they haven't had tools before and that is a lucrative opportunity for all ends of the table. Add in our expertise with the features I mentioned to you - and you have a winning recipe.
@radikaalanssi Ah got it, sorry was looking in a different region.

@Percival no worries buddy. We have particularly not been targeting SF as we've identified the most lucrative Englishs speaking markets - in which we have the market leader position in terms of electronic music artists today.

this is cool, my garagemate is a DJ and would love this.

@eiaine Hi Elaine, awesome! Let him know that we are a 100% free to use service for DJs (because they deserve the recognition from the hard work they do) and that he should sign up here: https://beatsy.co/artists/signup
PS. If you are throwing an event, hit me up at anssi@beatsy.co and we'll hook you up with a cool DJ that'll rock the party.
