Hey PH community,
Matt from the Basin team here. Basin is a simple form backend product that enables you to setup working web forms in just a couple minutes. Nobody really likes writing server-side code and configuring forms to do what they need to do, so we made Basin to help save some development time so you can get back to shipping more important code.
In addition to collecting submissions, you can configure Basin to:
- Track form conversions
- Redirect to custom URL's on submissions success
- Setup auto response emails
- Display forms on multiple pages
- Give sub-users read-only access to form data
- Allow secure file uploads
Every Basin form also includes automatic spam filtering, AJAX support, and the ability to integrate with your favorite apps and third-party services via webhooks.
We'd love to get some feedback on where we can improve and add additional value. Happy to answer questions! Thanks all :)

@farleymatters Good idea and execution. Feedback - I would change the background or text color on the buttons on your website, the text is very hard to read.
@farleymatters Looks much better! :) I'm pumped to try it out. I think this is a really great idea that could come in handy!

I’ve found most solutions in this space have no way to have dynamic lookups from a database or something else that changes frequently. It’s kept me from using them. Any thoughts on that?
@burkeautrey Are you referring to the ability to filter, sort, and export your form submission data based on your own dynamic form fields or custom parameters? We can definitely add that functionality.
The idea is good, but there are a lot of bugs. I keep seeing:
The change you wanted was rejected.
Maybe you tried to change something you didn't have access to.
when testing from http://127.0.0.1:8080/
Also if you delete a form somewhere in the rails app you have a redirect back which takes you to another error page since the form is deleted, etc.
@rayishan Thanks for letting us know Ishan. We'll definitely take a look. I ran into the redirect error when demoing the app to a buddy yesterday, so its on the list of bugs to squash :)
@rayishan Everything should be up and running now. We've deployed some fixes in the last 48 hours that should take care of the errors you were running into. Let us know if you find any more bugs for us to squash!

We've been looking for form endpoint solution with reasonable pricing that at least does the basics, and Basin was definitely a contender. But sadly it didn't work. We ended up using FormBackend. It's more expensive, but it works.
@miriamschwab Hey Miriam! Sorry I didn't see this until now. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble getting your Basin form up and running. Either @anthonypenner or myself would be happy to troubleshoot and get it figured out for you. You shouldn't have to pay more just to get a working form. Feel free to DM me on Twitter @farleymatters. We'll hook you up with a special coupon code for giving us a second chance :)
@anthonypenner@miriamschwab So, we took a look and think we figured out the issue. Totally on us, nothing you did or didn't do. We're updating our sample form code, and you should be able to grab and use that for testing and get successful submissions :)

Pretty simple idea. Good execution. Good UI / UX apart from some texts which are hard to read.
It's unintrusive as in you define and style your own form, but this also means you have to style your own form. It would be great if the platform provides a form builder, so people can use it to compose their frontend code as well. Then there won't be a need to write frontend or backend code.
Pros:
Has Free Tier with Unlimited Submissions. Provides metrics, export options
@toshuu Well that's not good! Either @anthonypenner or myself would be happy to troubleshoot for you! Send either of us a Twitter DM and we'll help you get things sorted out!
@d4nyll In some ways, yes. Formspree is what I was using to power my own forms before I decided to build Basin. It did the job, but we thought it would be nice to not just forward submission data via email, but keep a record of those submissions somewhere as well. So that's where we started, and added some additional features that early testers suggested, like file uploads, auto response, form conversion rate, etc. Speaking of analytics, we'd love to hear what metrics aside from conversation you'd be interested in tracking :)
@toshuu We've deployed some fixes in the last 48 hours that should take care of the issue you were having. You should be able to get your form setup and working now :)
