Barred keeps an overcrowded macOS menu bar under control. Hide rarely used icons in a collapsible secondary bar, reveal them with one click, reorder items, and choose when the bar hides itself again. It’s a small, native utility with no Dock icon, accounts, analytics, or network access.

Hey Product Hunt,
I built Barred because my Mac’s menu bar had become a crowded strip of icons I rarely needed, and the existing solutions felt heavier (or more expensive!) than the problem warranted.
Barred gives those icons somewhere to go. It tucks them into a collapsible secondary bar, keeps them one click away, and hides them again after a configurable delay. You can also reorder items, launch Barred at login, and otherwise forget it’s running.
The app is native, lightweight, and private. There are no accounts, analytics, or network requests.
This is still an early release, so I’d especially like to hear which menu bar setups cause trouble and which small features would make Barred more useful!
