Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Jeswin, the maker. I built AuraScribe because good dictation had quietly become something you rent. The best tools are subscriptions that stream your microphone to a server you don't control, and the one built into Windows sends what you say to Microsoft. I wanted to dictate private notes, code, and messages without any of that. So AuraScribe does everything on your own machine. Press a hotkey, speak, and clean text lands wherever your cursor is, in any app. No account, no subscription, and nothing leaves your device. The only network request it ever makes is a one-time model download. v2.0 is the big one: it's now cross-platform ~ Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon), and Linux - from a single open-source codebase. It runs several on-device engines, so it covers English, 25 European and about 40 Asian languages, plus Malayalam and Kannada, which most tools skip. Getting good offline Malayalam was the hardest part, and I packaged that model and gave it back to the open-source community. It's MIT licensed and free forever.
