Hi everyone, I'm Kate.
I've worked as a legal transcriber for six years. A lot of that time goes on recordings where one misheard word can change the meaning of a statement, so you listen, rewind and listen again. When AI transcription arrived I was excited, then a bit disappointed. Every tool seemed designed to take the transcriber out of the picture. Nobody was building for the person who checks each line and stands behind the finished record.
So I decided to build that tool myself, even though I'm not a developer. My first version did the job for me. When I asked to use it on my agency work, the answer was no, because my files would pass through a third-party processor. That stung for about a day. Then I realised it was the clearest brief I'd ever been given, and data protection became the starting point for every decision after that.
The product changed a lot once real people got their hands on it. Our beta users told me what slowed them down, what they didn't trust and what they'd actually pay for. I rewrote features, rewrote our security wording so it matched exactly what the system does, and rebuilt the pricing twice.
Have I built what I set out to build? The core of it, yes. Legal professionals can now get a fast AI draft and turn it into an accurate transcript in a workspace made by someone who does the job. Seeing people come back to it every week still gives me a buzz. The next step is a version firms can run inside their own systems, so sensitive recordings never leave their hands.
I'd love your honest feedback, and I'll be here all day to answer questions.
