Shaaji is a quirky search engine that doesn't give you real answers. Instead, it gives you the funny, traditional, and unsolicited advice of a stereotypical Indian Uncle. It's a heartfelt tribute to the family members we all know and love.

Hey everyone,
So excited to share our project with the Product Hunt community! 👋
My friend and I are students from Kerala, India, and this whole thing started as a joke for a "useless ideas" hackathon. We built Shaaji – a search engine that acts like a stereotypical "Indian Uncle."
For those who might not be familiar, the "uncle" in our culture is a beloved, well-meaning, but hilariously judgmental elder who has an unsolicited opinion on everything. Your career, your clothes, your life choices... you name it, he has advice for it.
We launched a version in our native language, Malayalam, on our local Reddit community, and it just blew up. We were flooded with requests for other regional versions. So we built two more: a Tamil "Maama" and a Hindi "Chachaji," each with their own unique, culturally specific humor. (r/developersIndia r/Tamizhteens)
So, what does it do?
AI-Powered Opinions: Ask it anything, and it gives you a funny, discouraging "uncle" opinion instead of a real answer.
Adjustable Personality: You can change the uncle's temper from calm and patient to fiery and blunt.
Voice Replies: Shaaji can speak his advice out loud, which really brings the character to life!
Shaaji Scan (Beta): A feature that uses your camera to roast your appearance. (Warning: He's brutal. Even we felt bad after trying it on ourselves!)
This started as a passion project, but the response has been so heartwarming that our free-tier API keys are getting exhausted every day. We're hoping to get your feedback and maybe some ideas on how we can sustain this project and keep it growing.
We'd be honored if you tried it out and let us know what you think. We're here all day to answer your questions!
