Hey everyone, thanks for checking out Ascend!
For as long as I can remember, I've been stuck in the same cycle. I'd start the year with huge, ambitious goals—learn a new programming language, launch a personal project, finally get in shape. But a few months in, I'd find myself completely lost in a sea of daily to-do lists that felt totally disconnected from those big dreams. The urgent, everyday tasks always seemed to crush the important, long-term ones.
I tried a bunch of different apps. Most were either endless, uninspiring chore lists or complex project management tools that felt like overkill for one person. I just wanted to see a clear, visual line connecting my biggest ambition for the year all the way down to the small task I needed to do today.
So, I decided to build the solution myself.
The core idea of Ascend is a simple but powerful hierarchy: Yearly > Quarterly > Monthly > Weekly > Daily. Every task you create has to be linked to a bigger goal. This simple rule forces every action to be purposeful and answers the question, "Why am I doing this?"
To make the daily grind more motivating, I also built in a gamified XP and leveling system. You don't just check off tasks; you earn XP and level up from a "Base Camp" beginner to a "Mountaineer," turning your personal growth into a kind of RPG.
I've finally reached a point where the app is stable and ready for people to use. Right now, Ascend is available as a website. Native apps for iOS and Android are already in development and will be coming soon!
The web app is completely free to use. As a solo developer, what I need most right now is honest feedback and reviews. I would be incredibly grateful if you could take a look and let me know what you think. What's confusing? What's helpful? What's missing?
A quick tip: For the best experience, I recommend viewing the website on a desktop. I'm still actively polishing the mobile web view, so you can also use your mobile browser's "desktop site" mode for a better fit.
