Aruma is an open-source (Apache 2.0) backend that works with the official Firebase SDKs. Run it on your own server: one Go binary + PostgreSQL with a built-in dashboard. It serves Auth, Realtime Database, Cloud Storage, Security Rules and a Firestore-compatible database. For Auth, RTDB and Firestore you change the config file, not your app code. Storage on iOS/Flutter needs a small helper. Pre-1.0 (v0.4.0). Try it with docker compose or a binary from Releases.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Osama, the maker of Aruma.
I started building apps on Firebase, and I still like its client SDKs. What I wanted was to run the backend myself: my data in my own Postgres, on any server, without being tied to one cloud.
Aruma speaks the official Firebase SDKs in normal production mode (not emulator mode). Today it covers Auth, Realtime Database, Storage, Security Rules and a Firestore-compatible database. For Auth, RTDB and Firestore you only change the config file. Storage on iOS and Flutter needs a small helper.
It's pre-1.0 and open source (Apache 2.0). I built it with Claude Code and check it against real Firebase, the official emulators and Firebase's own test suites.
Next: FCM, App Check, Remote Config and Functions.
If you try it with your app and something behaves differently from Firebase, please tell me. Which Firebase service would you need before you could switch?
