Discover art exhibitions in San Francisco & LA (with more cities coming soon). Your guide to galleries, museums, and public art. Free for iPhone and iPad.
I built Arting because I kept missing art exhibitions in San Francisco. I'd hear about a cool show after it closed, or I'd walk past a gallery and think "I should check that out someday" and then never do.
The existing solutions sucked. Art websites are slow, cluttered, and haven't been updated since 2003. Event aggregators treat art like concert tickets - all about the transaction, not the discovery. Museum apps only show you their exhibitions. And nobody has solved the simple problem of "what art can I see right now near me?"
So I made Arting: Zero friction: Open the app, see what's on view. No accounts, no onboarding, no newsletter signup walls. Just art.
Actually comprehensive: 168 exhibitions across galleries, museums, alternative spaces, and public art in SF. I manually curate and update this because nobody else will.
Map-first: Because sometimes you just want to walk around the Mission and see what's nearby. Apple Maps integration makes it feel native.
Privacy-focused: No tracking. No analytics. Your art taste is your business. Favorites sync via iCloud, not my servers.
Free forever: San Francisco's art scene is already inaccessible enough without charging people $5/month to know what's on view.
I've been using this for months to actually go to more art, and it works. I see more shows, I plan better gallery walks, I don't miss openings anymore.
Currently SF-only (LA launching before Frieze and more coming soon), but I'm planning to expand to other cities if people find this useful.
What's the last great exhibition you stumbled upon by accident?
