We built arqai because most AI writing tools seemed to go in one of two directions: either they generate text too aggressively and take over the writing process, or they help a little, but fall apart once the project becomes a real long-form book. We wanted something different. arqai is a writing workspace for people who actually want to write their book themselves, but want serious help with the hard parts around it: keeping characters and story details consistent, improving weak scenes, getting unstuck, spotting plot holes, and managing long-form context without losing the voice of the author. One thing that was very important to us from the beginning: the AI should support the writer, not replace them. So instead of building a “click once and generate a novel” product, we built a workspace with story organization, a strong story bible, AI agents for different tasks, and tools that help writers stay in control while still moving faster. We’re still in beta, and this launch is mainly about getting the product in front of writers who care about the craft and want to help shape it.
