So I built the app. The course has 17 units and 36 lessons. Seven units go through the alphabet a few letters at a time. One covers tashkeel, the small marks that change how a word sounds. The rest teach the most common words, then everyday phrases and short sentences. In a lesson you see the new letters, find them on the keyboard, and type real words from Arabic script, from Arabizi, and from English. You also build words from letter tiles, pick meanings, and type what you hear. Every word and sentence has audio, and I listened to each clip before it went in. Words you miss come back in a review queue, spaced further apart each time you get them right. There's no account and no ads. Your progress stays on your phone.
