Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Niclas, co-founder and CEO of Appliqu. This started in an interview. I was interviewing Alexey, now my co-founder and CTO, and somewhere in the conversation he mentioned, almost as an aside, that he'd built an agent that applied to jobs for him. He wasn't job hunting anymore. He'd automated himself out of the process entirely. I couldn't stop thinking about it. Not because it was clever engineering, though it was, but because of the obvious follow-up question: why does everyone else still do this by hand? So we started building it properly, together, to take it to market and get it into the hands of people who don't happen to have a backend engineer's skill set. The tools that existed all optimised the wrong step. Resume builders make one document faster. Trackers make it easier to watch yourself fail. Job boards make browsing marginally less painful. Nobody was asking whether the human should be in that loop at all. So we built an agent instead of a tool. You tell Appliqu what role you want, upload your CV, and stop. From there 27 specialised agents scan 500+ ATS boards and job portals across 37 countries every two minutes, a multi-model LLM stack scores every opening against your actual profile, and matched roles get a tailored CV and cover letter submitted automatically. It keeps running until an interview invitation arrives. Two things changed while building it: We underestimated how much the matching mattered. Our first version applied too broadly and users hated it, not because it wasted applications, but because it made them feel like they were spamming. Precision turned out to be a trust feature, not an efficiency one. Now nothing goes out below your threshold, and every match shows its reasoning. We built it EU-first and it made the product better. We're a German company, so GDPR and the AI Act weren't optional. That forced a human-in-the-loop default, per-tenant data isolation at the database level, and a genuine consent moment before anything fully autonomous runs. Constraints we initially resented turned into the thing that makes people comfortable handing over their job search. Free tier, no card. Niclas covered the story already so I'll just talk about what's under the hood.

Honest truth: the AI part was the easy bit. The real pain is that 500+ job boards in 37 countries all have different forms, different quirks, and they change without warning. That's why we ended up with 27 specialised agents instead of one big one. Parsing, scoring, writing, submitting, they all break in different ways so each got its own agent. We scan every two minutes because being early in the applicant pile matters more than people think.

What I underestimated most was the UX though. My first version had no interface at all, just logs. I figured if the whole point is "walk away", who needs a UI. I was completely wrong. When people hand over their job search they want to see what's happening. So now everything is inspectable: every match shows why it scored the way it did, you see what was sent and where, and nothing runs autonomously until you explicitly turn it on.

We also shipped some things along the way that started as side ideas and stuck. There's a CV Editor mini app now, and a feed you can scroll for interesting positions and insights, for the days when you actually feel like browsing.

And we're building something bigger on the side, AppliquIntelligence Computer. Bigger agentic system that helps with the whole process, not just applications. Company research, interview prep, all of it. Too early to show but that's the direction.

Really curious about first feedback today. What to improve, what we can do better, and also where we already got it right. Where it breaks (especially outside Germany, coverage is uneven), where the UI confuses you, what felt good. All useful.
