Hi Product Hunt. I’m Karolina; I built appkeep with my husband Sander, who has managed buildings professionally for more than 20 years. They budget replacements before failure, brief contractors in writing, and keep a multi-year plan. Homeowners own the same kind of asset with none of that operating model, so every failure arrives as a surprise and every quote is a negotiation entered blind. appkeep gives you that model for your own house. You register the house once and get a year-by-year plan of what’s coming and what it costs, a fair-price check when a quote lands, and a written brief (a mandate) that commits the contractor to scope and price before work starts. The methodology is deliberately public: the guides, the glossary, and the quote calculator are free with no signup. How do you keep your replacement cost estimates accurate as material and labor prices change across different regions?

@spotch_founder Thanks Nick. Two-part honest answer. Today the estimates are researched ranges, not point numbers: per-unit installed prices (per m², per window, per metre) built from published trade and industry data for each market we run in (Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden — kronor there), reconciled by hand against sources as prices move. The plan also indexes costs forward, so a 2031 roof line isn't priced in 2026 euros. The part you're really asking about: quote capture is already in the product, and the loop that feeds anonymised quote actuals back into per-region estimates is next on the build list. Estimates should get better with every house that runs through it.
