I'm Sehan Shahid, the founder of APK Scanner Pro—an AI-powered platform that helps developers and Android users scan APK files for malware, security risks, and Play Store compliance before installation or publication. I enjoy building practical SaaS products that solve real problems using AI and automation. My goal is to create developer tools that are simple, reliable, and accessible to everyone, while continuously improving them based on real user feedback.

Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Sehan, the founder of APK Scanner Pro.
The idea came from a simple problem: checking whether an Android APK is actually safe is more difficult than it should be. Most people either install apps without knowing what's inside or have to jump between multiple security tools and technical reports that aren't easy to understand.
I wanted to create a platform that simplified APK file security. Simply upload an APK or paste a Google Play URL or the APK's URL to get a clear security report with human-readable explanations generated by artificial intelligence. For developers, there are also compliance-focused reports that help identify potential issues before publishing their app on Google Play.
Building APK Scanner Pro has been a huge learning experience. I started with a basic malware scanner, then gradually added AI-powered analysis, automated reporting, one-time secure scan access, and a smoother end-to-end experience based on real user feedback. Every feature has been built with the goal of making security analysis more accessible and easier to understand.
I'm still actively improving the platform, so I'd genuinely love your feedback.
A few questions I'd love your thoughts on:
What additional security or compliance checks would you find valuable?
Is there anything in the reports that could be clearer or more useful?
If you publish Android apps, what part of the review process takes the most time?
Thank you for checking out APK Scanner Pro and for supporting indie makers. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 🚀

Scanned a sketchy APK from a side forum and it caught a permission I would have totally missed otherwise. Clean results page too, no clutter.

@farukkorkuygpl Thank you, Faruk! I’m happy to hear the interface and results felt clean and straightforward. The goal is to help developers and users identify potential risks quickly without unnecessary complexity.

Scanning APKs before publishing is a smart move. One thing that would help me as a developer is a side-by-side diff view that compares two APK builds and flags exactly which permissions, manifest entries, or third-party libraries changed between them. It would make catching unintended additions way faster than manually reviewing each release.

@elifnurkklyhfl Thanks, Elifnur! I really like the APK diff idea. Comparing permissions, manifest changes, and third-party libraries between builds would be valuable for developers reviewing updates. I’ll definitely explore adding this in a future release.

Congrats on the launch Sehan. One thing I'd love to see is a side-by-side comparison view showing flagged permissions versus what's typical for that app category, so I can tell at a glance if an APK is asking for anything unusual before installing.

@ebubekirffa3 Thanks so much, Ebubekir! That’s a fantastic suggestion. A side-by-side comparison against what’s typical for an app category would make unusual permissions much easier to spot. I’ve added it to my roadmap and really appreciate the idea.

Love that you surface Play Store compliance alongside malware checks, that combo is super useful for indie devs shipping their first apps. Clean execution on a real pain point.

@bidavkubra60771 Thank you, Kübra! I appreciate that. Combining malware detection with Play Store compliance was intentional because many developers need both checks before releasing an app. Thanks for the encouraging feedback!
