Hey Product Hunt! 👋 anycode started with a small frustration we couldn’t ignore: scrolling through code in Monaco—the editor behind VS Code—didn’t feel native or smooth, especially in Safari on a 120Hz display. We tried Monaco. We tried CodeMirror. Neither gave us the combination we wanted: native scrolling, accurate syntax parsing, low CPU usage, and consistently smooth performance on large files. So we built our own editor from scratch. It uses native browser scrolling, virtual rendering, and incremental Tree-sitter parsing. Only the visible lines are rendered, and only the affected parts of the syntax tree are reparsed—keeping CPU usage low even on large files. In our tests, it reaches 120 FPS and feels up to 2× smoother than VS Code. It’s not another VS Code fork. That editor became anycode: an open-source, browser-based IDE where you can run Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, and local agents side by side. Agents can edit files and run commands while anycode reflects their changes instantly—without losing your cursor, scroll position, or context. You also get terminals, Git, LSP, persistent agent sessions, undo checkpoints, and a workspace you can open locally or remotely from almost any device. We built the coding environment we wanted for ourselves: fast, CPU-efficient, open, agent-agnostic, and accessible from anywhere.
