Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Julian, a private pilot and product manager from Germany with 10+ years building digital products for international brands. After my PPL I kept asking myself: why does flying a 2-hour Sunday hop require five different apps?
As a private pilot, I got tired of juggling a whole folder of different apps just to complete a single VFR flight: one for planning and weather, another for weight & balance, another for navigation, another for logbook, another for sharing flights and connecting with other pilots. Each app did one thing, but none of them felt like a simple, modern, user‑centric companion for the full “before, during, after” flight journey.
Altimate Pilot is my attempt to fix that: an all‑in‑one, focused companion app for essential private pilot tasks. It comes directly from my own daily pain as a pilot and my background in building user‑centric, high‑engagement apps.
What it does:
🌤 Flyability Score: one 0-100 score from live METAR data to nail your go/no-go decision
🗺 Flight Planning & Navigation: route planning with auto-calculated flight time and fuel, airspace overlays, back-to-back navigation
📖 Digital Logbook: manual entry, camera import from paper logbooks, auto-logging via navigation, statistics & Excel export
🌧 Weather Suite: METAR, TAF, NOTAM + AI copilot, radar, 7-day forecast, sunrise/sunset
🛡 Expiry Guardian: get notified before your medical or license lapses
🤝 Community: share flights, find local events, connect with pilots near you
Transparency note:
I am not a developer, so I built Altimate Pilot with Lovable + Despia in the last months, launched a closed beta with real pilots over the last weeks, and we're live today.
Would love your feedback - especially if you're a pilot or aviation geek, but also from any UX-minded folks on the UI. 🙏
