Hi Product Hunt! I’m Nick, founder of Aline.team.
I’ve spent nearly 20 years as a developer and engineering leader, and one thing kept showing up across almost every team I worked with:
Great developers aren’t equally great at everything.
I’ve seen engineers be incredibly effective in one type of work, then struggle to create the same impact in another. Not because they suddenly became less capable, but because the work, the role, and the team around them were different.
That led me to a simple belief: building a great engineering team isn’t just about hiring great developers. It’s about putting together the right people for the right mission.
The problem was that most of what we use to understand developers still comes from resumes, interviews, or subjective impressions.
So we started Aline.team with something more objective: the work developers already do.
Aline.team uses activity from Git services to understand how developers actually work, identify their patterns and strengths, and help teams think about how people can work better together.
This is our first step toward a bigger idea: engineering teams shouldn’t be built around titles alone. They should be built around how people actually work.
