Most habit apps assume you'll show up every day forever. AlignMate assumes you'll quit by day 3, because that's what actually happens, and treats it as data instead of failure. You tell it what the scroll is costing you (sleep, focus) and the AI designs a small 7-day experiment, like "phone charges outside the bedroom after 9pm". You log each day, misses included. At the end of the week you know something real about yourself, and the next experiment adjusts to what the data showed.
I built AlignMate because I kept failing at the same goals in the same way.
I would start a new habit system, follow it for a few days, miss once, and eventually stop completely. Most products made that missed day feel like failure: broken streak, lost progress, start again.
I wanted to build something around the opposite idea: the miss is useful data.
AlignMate works through small one-week experiments instead of permanent habits. You try something, log what actually happened, including the days you failed, and the AI uses that information to help design the next experiment.
The product itself evolved through the same process. The first version tried to combine goal tracking, habits, and digital detox into one product. After launching it, I realized I had effectively built two different products. I cut most of it and rebuilt the core around experiments, starting with digital detox because problems like doomscrolling, bad sleep, and wasted mornings make the failure of all-or-nothing systems especially obvious.
This launch is the beginning of testing whether that model actually works for other people too.
