AI email search that runs locally (privacy-first)

Alberta is a local-first email RAG/search app that keeps your inbox off the cloud. It syncs IMAP accounts, indexes mail locally (DuckDB + FAISS), and runs the LLM via Ollama. You can search and also chat with your emails to get grounded answers. Search is hybrid (BM25 + vectors) with reranking, adaptive retrieval, and verification to keep answers grounded in real emails. Built for fast latency and multi-account privacy-by-design.

Hey Product Hunt — I’m, the maker of Alberta.

Alberta is a local-first email search + Q&A app: it syncs your IMAP accounts, indexes everything locally, and runs the LLM via Ollama (so your inbox doesn’t get sent to the cloud). Under the hood it uses hybrid search (BM25 + vectors) plus reranking and verification to keep answers grounded in real emails.

I’d love feedback on:
- Did it find the right emails fast?

- Did the answers stay grounded in the actual messages?
- What’s the one feature you’d want next?

Ask me anything — happy to share benchmarks and implementation details.
