Hey Imgdetect team, congrats on the launch! š With the rise of AI-generated images and deepfakes, a fast, reliable, and privacy-focused detection tool is becoming increasingly essential. Addressing media authenticity is a critical challenge.
As we work heavily with AI image generation @UNI AI, understanding the detection side is really interesting. The focus on ease-of-use and speed (results in seconds) is great for practical application.
Question: What underlying techniques does the detector use? Does it primarily look for known artifacts of specific generation models, analyze statistical patterns, or use a combination of methods? Curious about its robustness against newer or more sophisticated generation techniques.

You're absolutely right ā with AI-generated content on the rise, we believe tools like ImgDetect are becoming essential for maintaining trust and authenticity.
To answer your question:
ImgDetect uses a hybrid approach. We combine artifact-based detection (looking for typical inconsistencies left by popular AI models) with statistical pattern analysis trained via a lightweight deep learning model.
Our goal was to create something fast, mobile-friendly, and effective even against newer generation techniques.
Weāre also actively researching ways to make ImgDetect even more robust as AI models evolve ā including staying updated with emerging deepfake technologies and synthetic media patterns.
