Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Abass, the founder of KEYO Technologies in Uganda. I’m incredibly excited to introduce Afro AI to the community today!
We built Afro AI (afroaigroup.com) because the standard AI development tools on the market are heavily optimized for Western tech infrastructure. They assume high-bandwidth environments, native credit card access, and ignore legacy mobile tech.
We wanted to change that. Afro AI is a prompt-to-app builder engineered specifically for regional ecosystem constraints, natively supporting mobile money payment integrations (M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Airtel Money) and an integrated USSD app builder to deploy functional tools accessible via legacy feature phones.
🚀 Taking it a step further: KEYO Studio (v0.2.0-alpha.2)
Today, we are also highlighting our completely open-source, local AI companion companion workspace, KEYO Studio. Instead of wrapping llama.cpp or Ollama, we wrote the entire transformer, attention math, and KV caching mechanics from scratch in Node/C++.
To protect budget smartphones and legacy consumer hardware from running out of RAM, it handles models larger than 256 MiB through sequential disk-streaming via a strict 256 KiB scratch buffer. With the new v0.2.0-alpha.2 release, it now executes entirely client-side via secure browser web workers and features mobile foundations for Android compilation.
The platform has a free tier with no credit card required, and our custom runner is completely open-source under an MIT license on GitHub.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, answer any architectural questions about our disk-backed engine, or hear what you plan to build next! Thanks for checking us out!
