I've seen this model pop up a few times over the last year. What do you think is driving this? Are travelers genuinely looking for these more authentic/local experiences and if so why?

@Percival As travelers ourselves, we wanted build a community where we could connect and customize adventures with the best guides around the world - and we think others are ready to ditch the one stop shop itineraries as well. We know our real value is to empower people that don't yet have access to an online booking system around the globe.

Adventure Local ( Advlo ) connects travelers with authentic local adventures around the world. We are leveling the playing field for the adventure travel industry by allowing people to easily upload, showcase, and sell their adventure activities.
Tell me about unit economics. What's your cut on these bookings?

We currently have two options that have changed based on guide feedback.
15% of a booking - free to host on Advlo
OR
$10 per Adv / Mo. - zero commission & optional use of transaction system
@nomadic_knight And what is the average order size of a booking? Trying to determine your LTV roughly so please share any data on that.

@Percival
So In 3 weeks since launch, we have gotten ( 3 ) guides on subscription, and our ( 5 ) bookings average price is roughly $200 - I can't really assume how the longterm relationship will be with our customers this early.
We are toying with a few ideas on incentivizing user-generated expansion for gaining more hosts - but we know to keep our travelers longterm we are going to need to make it easy to build personal relationships with guides via the platform. That ties into the adventure customization feature that ensures your trip will be totally unique - which we think is a huge draw to stay active in an online community.

We are currently working with a few travelers testing an incentivized ambassador program. To really provide people with the value of unique adventures, we need to monetarily motivate travelers who are currently in our untapped markets ( Central / South America, Africa, Asia) - to onboard these guides. So our cost of acquiring a host is higher than a traveler, but receives & provides a longer term value for Adventure Local.
Why do you want to join the 500 program and what do you hope to get out of it?

Its a huge part of our company culture to get out of our laptops and experience our adventures, BUT above all we are a technology company. We have a very low overhead and would thrive in a 100% focused environment. Also the three of us founders are all fully committed to growing the business.
When the time comes to scale - the resources and mentorship provided through the 500 network would be the exact aid we would need to help build on and optimize Advlo so it can be accessible for the masses.
