ADU Copilot AI helps California homeowners, architects, and builders review ADU plans against state regulations in minutes. Upload an architectural PDF, and the AI automatically extracts 20+ building parameters to generate a compliance audit based on official California ADU rules. More importantly, the AI can analyze failed compliance items and provide actionable suggestions based directly on California ADU regulations, complete with relevant rule citations and explanations.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built ADU Copilot AI after realizing how painful and time-consuming ADU compliance reviews can be in California.
Architects and homeowners often spend hours manually checking zoning rules, setbacks, parking requirements, and dozens of compliance items across long government documents.
So I built an AI workflow that can:
✅ Understand architectural PDFs
✅ Extract 20+ building parameters
✅ Audit plans against California ADU regulations
✅ Generate regulation-backed fix suggestions with citations
One of the most interesting parts was building the RAG pipeline using official ADU handbooks and pgvector, so the AI can answer like an “open-book exam” instead of hallucinating.
Would love your feedback, especially from architects, builders, and AI makers 🙌
Do you update the ruleset automatically when California changes guidance, or is it versioned by date?

@manal_essalek1 thanks for question. And yes — the ruleset is designed to stay up to date automatically.
I currently run a daily check against the official California ADU handbook PDFs and related guidance documents. If any changes are detected, the system automatically updates the indexed regulations and refreshes the RAG knowledge base.
I’m also planning to add explicit version tracking in future updates, so users can see which regulation version an audit was based on.
