Hi Product Hunt, I'm Davide, the maker of AdSurface.
The idea is simple: brands pay for a small, clearly labeled sponsor in the Mac menu bar, and people who choose to display it receive 70% of the media revenue.
Want to try it for your own product? We offer €25 in free advertising credit to the first 10 eligible users who activate the bonus, including existing users. No top-up required. Activate it in your personal wallet and allocate it to a campaign. One bonus per account, while available; this is our existing welcome offer, open beyond Product Hunt. The credit has no expiry and cannot be withdrawn or refunded. Check current availability on the AdSurface advertising page.
For Mac users: install the app, connect your account and opt in. You can pause or disable sponsors. The Mac app does not capture screenshots, keystrokes, browser history or the contents of your files.
For advertisers: create a campaign, set its budget and submit it for review. Planned for this launch: market CPM starting at €2, updated hourly. Set your maximum CPM; eligible campaigns pay the market rate, never above that cap. CPM covers 1,000 qualified exposures of 60 continuous seconds each. A cap below the market price pauses new delivery until the campaign is eligible again. Participants receive 70% of the actual eligible media charge. Clicks are optional and do not increase participant earnings.
This is an early release. Earning depends on device approval, eligibility and available funded campaigns. Qualified display time is not proof that someone looked at an ad. Base earnings mature after five days; available balances of €25 or more enter a weekly review for manual bank transfer to an IBAN in your own name. Account checks and holds apply.
I'd love feedback from Mac users and indie makers: would you enable a sponsor in your menu bar? As an advertiser, what would you need to see before trying this placement?
Would have loved to try it out, but I was unable to login via Google. "Google sign-in failed. Try again."
