Adobe has released Substance 3D Painter 12.1, a major update that overhauls texture baking with continuous rebaking and skew correction painting to fix normal map errors directly on the model It establishes OpenPBR as the new default shading standard for better material interchange, and adds a dedicated hard surface UV unwrapping mode for mechanical assets The release also introduces edge protection, multi-channel editing, and a unified undo history to streamline complex texturing workflows.

Does the continuous rebaking work in real time while you're painting, or do you have to pause and trigger it manually each pass?
Finally got around to testing the skew correction painting and it actually fixes those wonky normal seams without round-tripping through another app. The new hard surface UV unwrapper saved me a solid hour on a mech model.
