A solo-built publication tracking where AI, commerce, culture, and brand strategy are converging. Daily Brief, weekly Friday Five, 300+ classified signals with narrative memory. One person, one AI-powered pipeline, one newsroom.
Hey PH — I'm Jonathan. I spent over 20 years in agencies and tech companies (R/GA, Techstars, Scratch) watching how the most interesting signals always came from *between* industries, not within them. The AI story that matters to a brand strategist looks different when you see it next to a shift in consumer behavior and a change in commerce infrastructure.
I built Adjacent to scratch that itch. It's a daily trend intelligence publication — a morning Brief, a weekly Friday Five synthesis, and a growing archive of 300+ classified signals organized across six themes: Consumer, AI, Commerce, Culture, Connected, and Brand.
What makes it different from other newsletters: the entire pipeline is AI-powered. Every signal gets classified, enriched, and matched to narrative "arcs" — longitudinal threads that track how stories develop over weeks. The Brief writer has memory. It knows we first spotted a trend three weeks ago and can say so with receipts.
I built the whole thing solo — the editorial pipeline, the trend radar, the social distribution, the theme system, the site. It's just me doing what used to require a small team and frankly we were not able to be this together. Is it perfect, of course not but I am very satisfied with how quickly it's come together and feeling really good about what I can deliver here.
I'm launching here because I'm genuinely trying to find out who this is for. I know it resonates with strategy and marketing people, but I want to learn what *specifically* pulls people in. Is it the daily brief? The signal archive? The cross-domain taxonomy? The Friday Five? Today I launched some wider areas for the weekend and on Monday a broader news scan that should be an easy quick look.
Would love to hear what people think. The feedback I've gotten already has been super helpful. While this is absolutely a side project for the time being, you never know.
