Journaling has been a big part of my own personal growth. I wanted a journaling tool that could take weeks of entries and surface meaningful insights, helping me reflect more deeply on my writing and learn more about myself. I wanted my insights visualized in a meaningful way. That is why we built Acorn Journals. It is a secure journaling app that helps you write daily, track your mood, and if you want, use AI to reflect on patterns and themes over time to surface meaningful insights and discover more about yourself. My co-founder and I both have years of experience with visualizing data so we built a tool that can analyze your entries and show you important insights without needing the user to rely on AI chatbots to surface insights. I love the Tone Analysis feature and the UI is so clean. I do a bit of journaling myself, but always found it difficult to organize my thoughts and really reflect back on my journals. I’m excited to give this a try!

I’ve been using Acorn Journals and it’s quickly become a go-to for reflection. What I like most is the balance they’ve struck between privacy, ease of use, and actually surfacing meaningful insights.
The encryption piece matters to me, it’s end-to-end, so not even their team can see your entries. Combine that with mood tracking and recurring theme detection, and suddenly you’re not just journaling, you’re spotting patterns in how you think and feel over time.
The AI side is handled well. It’s not about handing everything over to a chatbot, the prompts are light and helpful, and the premium features (tone analysis, summaries, theme detection) actually add value without being gimmicky.
