ACE is npm for agentic coding environments. A package describes the environment — orchestrator, workers, tools, models, policies, memory, lifecycle — not application source. Git stays the source of truth; the registry indexes specifications. Zero-dependency CLI, local file-backed registry, JSON-native (package.json + ace-lock.json). Reproducible, composable, open. An orchestrator coordinates the agents; ACE records what's happening.
