A meticulously designed camera app for your iPhone, conceived to compose & capture photographs in the iconic 65:24 aspect ratio. Free to download, with advanced processing and customization features unlockable with a one-time in app purchase.
Hey everyone! I'm Guillaume, a software designer and photographer. I've been independently building software tools for photography as Héliographe for about a year now, and I'm excited to launch 65×24 here today!
65×24 is a panoramic camera app for iPhone inspired by the iconic Hasselblad XPan. The XPan is a film camera from the 90s that is now outrageously expensive, but it pioneered the 65:24 (2.71) aspect ratio which has since become cult. I love how those photos look and this is what inspired me to build this app: I want to shoot this format easily with the camera I have in my pocket every day, my iPhone.
Why a dedicated app when you can always shoot regular photos and crop a panorama later? As photographers know, being able to accurately previsualize your composition makes a huge difference for taking great pictures. Existing camera apps also have an interface optimized for shooting in 4:3, and I felt that designing an interface from the ground up for shooting panoramic would result in a much nicer experience.
I've been sharing 65×24 with friends and early testers for over a year now, so I've been iterating on it a bunch based on feedback. The app itself has gotten pretty featureful, with lots of customization options for the interface, a processing pipeline that lets you define the look of your pictures so they come out the way you want them straight out of camera, and support for advanced iPhone features like 48 megapixels capture.
I released a number of things in the last few weeks, so the timing finally felt right to share 65×24 more broadly.
Those include a new update with support for iOS 18 and iPhone 16 features, an overview video showcasing the app, and a user's manual for advanced users who want to dig in deep (those last two are linked on the website).
If you end up trying 65×24 and taking photos, please share them with me (you can find me as Heliographe on all the social networks) - the most rewarding part of building creative tools is seeing what everyone makes with them!
There's also more updates and features planned in the coming months that I'm pretty excited about, so stay tuned!
Thanks to @chrismessina for helping out with the launch!

Apps like 65x24 deliver on what the original purpose of the iOS App Store was: “there’s an app for everything”. Did you ever dream of using one of those expensive cameras that are impossible to obtain? Well somewhere a passionate photographer, designer & developer took the time to carefully craft a beautifully minimalist experience that delivers just that. Hoping to see even more apps like this :-)
Shooting with 65x24 in the panoramic format has made photography fun again for me — much like Instagram’s square format made me look at the world anew with its unique framing and composition, 65x24 has given me new appreciation for cityscapes and panoramas!
65:24 truly brings panoramic photography to life with the best digital panoramic experience available! It’s beautifully optimised for the new iPhone 16's camera control. Perfect for capturing cinematic scenes. A must-have for anyone who want to take advantage of iPhone’s advanced capabilities with a narrative pano format!

I tried it out today. I really like, and actually bought the Pro features to support ya. Thanks for making it a one time purchase, instead of a subscription 🤘🏻

Hey there! Congrats on the launch of your 65:24 camera app for iPhone. The classic XPan inspiration is a cool touch. I've always admired the unique look of those panoramic shots.
Have you found any particular types of scenes or subjects that really shine in this aspect ratio?
