I built 4 Envelopes because a month is too coarse a unit for deciding whether I can spend something today. Budget apps told me where the money went; I wanted to know what's left for this week.

How it works: your planned income minus planned bills and what your goals still need this month, divided into four envelopes. A one-off payment moves only its own week, and an overspend carries forward to the weeks after it.

A few things I cared about:

• Multi-currency from the ground up — pay a Thai bill from a dirham card and it converts properly

• Receipts are read on the phone; only the text is sent, never the photo

• No analytics, no trackers, no ads

• A Telegram bot: type "coffee 4.50", tap Confirm
