What do you think? …

Vinayak Verma
Hi everyone, I’m the maker of Zenvault. Zenvault started from a very common frustration: every time a new developer joins a project, or you switch machines, you lose hours fighting setup scripts, missing env vars, and broken run commands. The repo exists, but “how to run it correctly” lives in someone’s head. Zenvault is a CLI-first control plane that makes every project runnable by default. You link a repo once, define environments and canonical run commands, and any teammate can onboard with a single zvault run. Our focus is not secrets management or enterprise compliance. It’s onboarding speed, environment parity, and run correctness. I’d love feedback from anyone who maintains repos, onboards interns, or manages multi-service projects. What part of setup hurts the most for you today? Happy to answer any questions.

Missing env vars and stale READMEs are the classic one-two punch when joining a project. Curious if Zenvault handles secrets distribution too or if that's still a separate tool like Vault or a secrets manager.

great question.

Zenvault isn’t trying to replace Vault or a cloud secrets manager. It focuses on onboarding speed and env consistency, not enterprise-grade secrets security.

It defines and syncs env vars per service and environment so devs don’t hit missing vars or stale READMEs, but for production secrets you’d still use something like Vault or a cloud provider’s secrets manager alongside Zenvault.
