Thanks Carlos for having created and shared this cool, minimalist text editor. I like it and will share it with my readers.
P.S.: I would love to see one tiny icon to hide the vertical command bar leaving only what you write in view. I also think your "Print" function icon should replaced with a more appropriate icon. What I see is a download icon.
Keep up the great work Carlos!
@robingood Hi Robin, I am glad you like Writty and thanks a mill for the feedback! Yes, the download icon was more aspirational, since I would like to export the content in more formats other than print the PDF in the future. Also I really like the idea of hiding the command bar. Will add it to the pipeline! πͺ
@robingood Oh wow! Thanks Robin! Really appreciate it. I have been working on a paid desktop app that works offline which I will be launching soon, I also made a Firefox extension available a couple of days ago. These extension regardless of the app are and will remain free of course. Thanks for your review! π

This is awesome! Very simple and clean. Did you use a library for the editor functionality or build it yourself?
@ryan_wilson6 Thanks Ryan! I built it myself from scratch as a way to refresh my javascript knowledge (heavy use of stackoverflow and -don't know how- many tutorials for each piece and functionality, I also got some help from some friends. I think I lost some hair in the process but it was worth it π

@charlieyllobre I hear you. I'm doing the same for my current project. It's pretty wild. I used to hate writing tests. Testing has become my best friend for this.

@charlieyllobre did you changed the app to be available only as a chrome extension?
That would be unfortunate for everyone not using chrome or wanting to use it on mobile for quick notes.
If so, please update the description here βοΈ
@leinadhorn Hi Daniel, yes, I had some traffic concerns and had to upgrade my hosting provider, the issue is sorted and now you can add Writty to your bookmarks: https://writtyapp.com/online/
I also recently released the Firefox extension to make Writty available to more people: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US...
Working on updating the web now βοΈ

Why is everything Chrome-only these days? It is so much easier to make a Chrome extension than a Firefox one? ?makers
Hi everyone! π I wasn't planning to make an open-source text editor, I was just working on this as a side project for myself when I started noticing more people would be interested in using it. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to contribute too!
First of all, THANK YOU for all the support, contributions and the good feedback received from the community.
Here are some updates made to Writty today:
β’ Save content as HTML
β’ Saves content as TXT
β’ RTL Support
β’ General Improvements and bug fixing
I'll work on making the chrome extension to only open Writty if you click the icon, instead of opening it with a new tab.
Stay tuned for more!
Update: The Chrome extension has been updated to version 1.4. Now you only open Writty if you click the icon on your browser's toolbar. Thanks again and enjoy Writty!
Amazing! I was actually looking for something like this. The other software out there werenβt good enough. And I canβt bring my Freewrite everywhere I am. This is just what I was looking for! So good!
