I wanted to improve my frontend skills, so I remade my current favorite game in 60 languages :) The whole thing is open-source, and you can suggest your own changes on https://github.com/Hugo0/wordle

What do you think? …

grats to the same day word game launch :D uw you even added the special letters in german äüö. Haven't seen a version like that before :) even tho especially on mobile i'd prefer a qwerty or in this case maybe qwertz keayboard but when i think about 60 languages i hope you get some help from the community! Cheers

@phoheisel Thanks! Yeah, I mostly decided with adding mostly everything programmatically, as it was way too much effort for a side project if I did it all manually. I did leave the option to edit all the configs manually and the whole code is open-source, so I'm hoping interested people might step up and edit they keyboard layouts for their languages by themselves! Would be cool to see

Congrats on the launch Hugo! I found it odd to have accented capital characters on the keyboard in Greek. Usually keyboards don't have those visible. The accents help you read the word properly and people understand the word even if a capitalized word doesn't have them.
Hugo Montenegro
@alexstyl Thanks Alex! That makes a ton of sense. It was a bit of a puzzle how to deal with accented characters (french is another bad offender). In the end I decided for simplicity and just included them all. This way it's also a bit more challenging, since the original Wordle is a bit easy imo :) But good feedback. The code is Open-source, if you want you can change the wordlist/keyboard for greek :P Thanks regardless for your feedback!

@uwwgo I just added a PR for adding Finnish :)

Can this be set up and ran from shared hosting site? or is it just links to all the other wordles?
Hugo Montenegro
@graham_fb It's both, I am hosting it on https://wordle.global, but the code is available at https://github.com/Hugo0/wordle if you want to host it yourself. It has links to all other wordles, but 61 languages are working specifically internally, whilst the rest all are external links.

@uwwgo Thanks for reply but even though the install instructions are short, still above my pay grade as it stops at wordpress and stuff of codecanyon. Being in NZ I wonder if anyone will create a Maori version? anyway thanks again
Hugo Montenegro
@graham_fb Sure! I can do that super easily. The code is set up in a way that, just having a wordlist of a new language is enough. Do you have maybe a .txt file or a dictionary file or wordlist of Maori words? I'll add that to the code and then you can play it in Maori no problem Cheers
Graham FB
@uwwgo no need its been done by the looks of it https://github.com/TeHikuMedia/n...
Hugo Montenegro
@graham_fb Problem with that is that it checks the words individually against https://maoridictionary.co.nz/ma..., but I can't find an actual word LIST or dictionary file that I can use for wordle global

Hi! You probably know about Wordle already. It's a really fun game. My skills are mostly in backend/ML, with lacking frontend experience. I wanted to change that, so why not recreate one of my favorite current games? The aim was to make something useful whilst also getting comfortable with TailwindCSS & Vue.js The whole thing is open-source, and you can (and actually, please do) suggest improvements or fixes over at GitHub (https://github.com/Hugo0/wordle) There's fun languages, like Klingon or Tolkien's Elvish that you can measure yourself on, as well as right to left languages like Arabic or Hebrew. Stats here. A lot of other great Wordle spin-offs exist, and I've linked the ones I know of on the main page (all searchable). You can add some here too if you are missing any! Have fun, and I hope you enjoy!
