Hi @oliver_windle1 - congratulations on the launch! The site looks fantastic, and it's a great way for people to discover the outdoors! Quick questions: how are you going to differentiate this from Airbnb's camping listings? I get that this experience will be much cleaner with the dedicated search, but is there any special differentiator/USP here? Rooting for you guys, and I'm excited to try this! (I'll also send it over to my parents who use Airbnb to list similar plots at the moment!) 🏕🏕🏕

@bertie Thank you Bertie! It's very much MVP right now but we're happy with the progress we're making! Great question and one you can probably imagine we get asked a lot! There are many reasons why we believe the Wildpoint experience will be more suitable for Hosts and Guests alike than on Airbnb. The first is on the technical side. The same reason that you rarely see hotels on Airbnb is one of the same reasons you rarely see campsites. Like a hotel, with tens of rooms, campsites have vast numbers of pitches. Displaying each of the 30 available listings on a campsite as a separate listing would saturate the search results of Airbnb to the extent where if you searched for a campsite in Cornwall you would see 100 listings of the same pitch, and this is the same for campsites. One of the often understated reasons is that Airbnb aren't associated with camping, which is why competitors are still able to operate successfully in the market, because people use them out of association with camping. We are very much seeing the unravelling of Airbnb into specific niches of travel, that can offer a more tailored experience for the guests and hosts through features, search criteria and more. I think a great analogy is when you go to a restaurant and see everything on the menu, you know the food is likely to be average, but when you go to a restaurant that has crafted one small menu, you know you're likely to have a much better experience. This is something we are absolutely championing and we're already designing massive value-add features specifically designed for outdoor accommodation. A great example being our recent partnership with What 3 Words. We can now provide the entrance location as well as the pitch location to guests so when they show up to a 20 acre farm they know exactly where they're going! In the same vein, branding plays a huge part. A brand that is focused from it's very core about getting back outdoors as Wildpoint so deeply is, means that we can begin to drive hosts and guests to the site because of the brand loyalty that we can build. We have seen already seen Airbnb hosts pro-actively approach us to become a part of the platform instead of Airbnb and other sites, which we believe is a great sign! There are more reasons but I won't chew your ear off Bertie! I hope that helps, and thank you so much for the support :)

Hi, Oliver here, founder and CEO of Wildpoint :) The positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing of connecting with nature has never been clearer - if nothing else, the Covid-19 pandemic has shown us that. Planning a trip that helps us to “find our wild” and disconnect from our busy lives for some much needed downtime is so much harder than it needs to be. Travelling and connecting with nature has always been deeply important to me. Upon planning a recent trip to the Outer Hebrides to camp and hike once again highlighted to me both a lack of designated camping spots and the difficulty in finding the right stays for my trip. I realised that if private landowners could open their land to the public, not only would it dramatically help feed the high demand for camping spots, but also unlock the ability to experience truly beautiful & unique stays, in places people could only previously long to have stayed. I'm very humbled to have built a team of talented individuals with previous experience at Airbnb, Microsoft, Airbus and beyond to make Wildpoint a reality, and we're determined to build a product people will love. We're currently launching in the UK with plans to expand into Europe in 2022. If you're interested in getting involved whether as an investor, team member or supporter, let's connect! All the best, Oliver

Congratulations, what a great idea! While you do have a newsletter, I would recommend having a separate method of collecting emails to inform visitors (like myself) when their country gets added. For instance, I'm interested in Portugal and would like to get notified once it's added, but at the same time, I don't want to receive newsletters that may be frequent and irrelevant to me.
