Dr. Seuss (aka Theodor Geisel) is releasing his new book, written sometime between 1958 and 1962 according to Brain Pickings, even though he's no longer with us. This was a delightful surprise.
@ajt@rrhoover I'm really very partial to "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street." I think the creative in me loves the imagining of the elaborate parade. But really, it's just too hard to pick a favorite.
@rrhoover I read a nice piece about how this book was discovered the other day. Apparently "Dr. Seuss"'s wife was cleaning out her house in preparation for a home renovation. She found an old folder, and in it, the unfinished manuscript for this book. Dr. Seuss liked to do drawings first, then cut and paste text onto them. The text snippets had become dislodged, and Random House had to figure out what went with what. Crazy stuff.
I just bought this yesterday actually. My son loves it. The iBooks version is good because you can click the words and they get bigger to make it easier for young readers.
