Self-reflection framework — decode reactions & break loops

VTMM is a free mapping framework for structured self-reflection when reactions feel intense or confusing. You map your experience through systems and their connections—marking which systems are active and how strongly they interact across key links. Once the pattern is clear, you can better understand what’s driving it, spot the loops that keep it stuck, and identify the specific levers that shift it into a next step.

Hey — I’m the maker of VTMM (Visual Trauma Mapping Model). I go by the pseudonym Descent, but you can call me Max. It’s a free visual mapping framework for structured self-reflection: taking a messy internal reaction and turning it into parts + linked loops you can actually work with. VTMM is intentionally text-first: a PDF library + diagrams (not an app). You don’t read it end-to-end — you grab the module you need. What it’s built on • A 7-system map (hexagon base + pyramid layer) • Multiple “solution approaches,” including an in-depth one • The in-depth approach uses 5 context mechanics (loops) + 5 pillars (sub-mechanics) so you can work through an experience one mechanism at a time In-depth modules so far • Body Shame • Bodily Anxiety • Identity Shame • Threat Appraisal • Guilt • Fear of Punishment How to try it (plan ~15–30 min for a real first pass) 1. Start with what’s loudest right now (your main worry/pressure/stuck point). 2. Fast pass: map systems + connections → identify the most prominent link between systems 3. Choose an approach and try one lever/step and see what shifts I’d love feedback on • First impression (what vibe do you get?) • Clarity (what lands / what confuses?) • Navigation (where do you get lost / what would you want first?) Quick safety note: Some sections can feel intense. If you feel overwhelmed, pause anytime and go at your own pace.
