Hey everyone, I am Elliott, the maker of Viewport! Viewport started from a simple frustration: sharing files shouldn’t feel this heavy. We were tired of emailing attachments to ourselves, generating long links, fixing permissions, or waiting for uploads to sync across devices. For developers and researchers especially, moving data between machines was clunky and slow. So we asked: What if sharing worked like a command? Type. Get a short code. Open it anywhere. We quickly realized links create clutter. That’s when the 6-character code idea became the core. From there, we leaned fully into privacy-first design: auto-delete after viewing, optional PINs, and no recipient accounts required (though possible of course). While keeping the option to send as a link as well! The CLI came next, after seeing how powerful it felt to transfer data between devices in two lines of codes: "viewport send FILE" and "viewport view SHARE_CODE". That shaped the product into something equally useful for individuals and technical teams. Premium accounts now also allow you to send content and data with custom codes, PINs, and view limits: giving you full control over how and how long your content is accessed.
