Versions

The user-friendly subversion (SVN) client, true to the Mac

Building software that lasts, that's what developers dream about. And Versions is one of them, with an incredible run of 13 years. Subversion is no longer mainstream. Nonetheless, teams at companies like Apple, Blue Origin, BMW, and SpaceX still use it daily.

What do you think? …

Christopher P. Atlan
Feeling nostalgia when you hear the name Versions? We felt that too when we took over development and started a user interface refresh of this Apple Design Award-winning app, which is still highly regarded within its existing user base.
Chris Messina
@catlan but who uses SVN anymore? Seems like a better version of Versions (heh!) would support GitHub, no?
Vivek
?makers thanks for making this awesome svn tool
Florian Albrecht
@vivekweb2013 Great to hear you're liking it. :)
Anita Sattler
Good job, Christopher. You put a lot of love and hard work into this! Greets from Styria!
Christopher P. Atlan
@anita_sattler Thx Anita! Hopefully see you soon at the wuapaa reunion :)

kudos to the launch ?makers 🥳🥳🥳

@__tosh 😀Thanks!

?makers The app looks great, no questions asked but what is the use case for subversion? Hasn't git taken over?
Christopher P. Atlan
@plaetzchen git has taken over the dev space, of course. That doesn’t mean there isn’t an active user base of both subversion and Versions app users. And it is not only used in developer related space, where svn points with a much simpler to learn model.
Philip Brechler
@catlan Saw that on your website as well, with doc files and stuff. Thanks for the context!
Joshua Pinter
Beautiful refresh. I used to love using this app prior to switching to Git and Tower. Any plans to support Git or is Versions going to remain an svn client?
Florian Albrecht
@joshuapinter This is a Subversion client, famous for its ease of use. We have no intention to make it more complicated by adopting a more complex git workflow. There are already great git tools like Tower out there.
Vlad Korobov
It would be awesome to have it able to work with Mercurial
Christopher P. Atlan
@vlad_korobov the UI of Versions was made for the simple workflow of subversions and not distributed version control like Mercurial.
