Pretty sweet idea. I thought it was niche until they told me that the valet parking market is $10Bn. Then you can factor in the $25Bn parking market.
So the idea is it's basically a reverse-Uber. They're currently working in airports; but in the future will expand to on-demand anywhere.
It's really suited to somewhere like San Francisco; so many times I've got texts like "just running 10 minutes late - trying to find parking".
How this app works is you say where you're gonna be; then there will be someone to meet you there (they've arrived on a scooter). You get out and go to your meeting, they'll take your car for you and park it. When your meeting ends, they can deliver your car back to you on-demand.
@_jacksmith When in SF I have always asked for a service like this. Could work great in London if there is enough liquidity. However, I don't think even a $35B market is very big at all for a non-mainstream concept like this.
@arush how do you think through how big a market size is in $ compared to the mainstreamness of it?
the taxi and limo market (which is being tackled by Uber, Lyft, Hailo etc etc) is/was (on recent data) only $10B in size.
@_jacksmith simple - the "mainstreamness" of a concept means it affects its Total Addressable Market (TAM).
In my opinion, this biz will never be as "mainstream" as parking your car in say a car park or pay&display, therefore the large majority of that $35B is moot. Their TAM is much smaller
btw, I love the idea and I have definitely wanted this to exist.
Great discussion, which makes me even more bummed to do this but I'd prefer to error on the side of hiding posts that the community might get frustrated with. Several people are averse to pre-launch landing pages for products that do nothing more than ask for an email address. Better to wait until they're live.
Sorry guys!
