Citizens engagement platform that lets you create a landing page with an interactive map in just a few steps, launch a survey and collect citizens' ideas and votes - and make the right decisions for the city development.
Hello Product Hunt,👋
I'm Nadezhda, co-founder and CEO of Urbanpinion 📍 - a service that helps to shape a better city together with it’s residents. And what is more - it’s a good digital public hearings and participative design alternative in our not easy times.
🌱 How it started
After the lockdown, me and my colleagues had a lot of problems with collection of citizens ideas regarding urban planning projects - and you know - good architecture is like UX-design in IT - you have to take in account your future users and their needs. So we were in search of different tools and had to combine a whole stack of different things wasting time and energy on it.
We talked to other architects as well as real estate companies, property management companies and city administration workers, and found that they also were struggling with the same thing. So we decided to act - it was time to come up with a good product that will help easily collect citizens ideas, analyze them and make right decisions for the city development. Our ultimate mission is to connect citizens, government, architects and business - all of them for creation of better cities.
😍 The solution
Citizens engagement platform that lets you create a landing page with an interactive map in just a few steps. Now you have all info about your project or city neatly organized and can launch a survey - collect citizens ideas and votes - and of course get the basic analytics of all collected ideas.
✏️ How does it work?
It's simple:
- give the project name
- choose the type of the project
- customize the map
- select the categories of Marks and Routes
- customize logo, description, images, contacts and background in the Editor
Ready!
Post the link to your landing page and get useful ideas from your neighbours and other citizens. You can even decide together where to make a Christmas tree or fair in your district.
👀So, for whom is Urbanpinion?
For people ready to develop their city in a right way - for urban activists, architects, property management companies, real estate companies, ecologists, city administration, transport companies. And Urbanpinion is so much more - it’s not only for participative budgeting or participative design - museums and shopping malls can use it to discuss it’s spaces with visitors, scientists can use it to monitor nature. And so much more…
Urbanpinion is available at https://app.urbanpinion.com/ and works browser-based, Editor is optimized for desktop, the mobile version comes a bit later. The surveys (your landing pages) work well with desktop and mobile. Our map has been built with @mapbox
We’d love to hear your feedback!
Let’s make better cities together🌳🌳🌳
P.S. don’t forget to create your first Urbanpinion survey and ask the citizens their opinion.
Thanks,
Nadezhda and Urbanpinion team 🤗
@mapbox@garintheengineer We are working on it if you are talking about not active people - we use now some online and offline methods now, which are not integrated inside the platfoem yet, but this is exactly the work for the beginning of 2022
@rucha_joshi8 Thank you! We plan to integrate NLP, right now we didn't have such amounts of data so as to use ML, but we're working on it, since we plan to work with Big Data

I see you mentioned talking to "city administration workers" about your product. Were there discussions about navigating the legalities of urban projects and how local laws will be respected? In the US, things can get tricky by a per state basis. Rules and Regulations introduce a sort of red-tape, if you will, around community led projects. How do you and your team plan to address items like these when they arise?
@gerosan Thank you for your question. We haven't worked in US yet (but plan to do that), but from our experience in other projects - we can adapt some things in the product according to local rules. We've already done it in a participatory budgeting project

That's good to know! Appreciate your response to my questions!
Brilliant idea! *_* It is great that people can gather easily, learn about a certain project via such a nice interface, and take a part in making surround a greater! Big congratulations on the launch! I truly wish for this project to go worldwide! And - people to get more involved! To revive the fact that what we give to nature will be given back to us! ^_^ Did I understand well that anyone who takes a part in a project can be involved in a public discussion about that project? :))
@new_user_605ed31394 Amazing! *_* Thanks a lot for the answer Nadezhda! I can't wait to try out Urbanpinion, and to share with friends for whom I know they had such great projects and this will be so helpful! *_*

This is amazing! I think during COVID community engagement has been especially challenging, so great to see a product that boosts it!
I wonder if you discussed internally about the possibility of basing this on the blockchain with motivating tokens for participation and potentially forming a DAO.
@aris_alexis thank you for your advice, we thought about blockchain (for security of respondents and their authorization too) and about motivation too, but didn't have an idea to combine it. Now I think we could try something like that
