Up Ahead

Hey folks 👋 I like keeping track of the things I'm looking forward to. Last summer, I decided it was time to move on from my messy Notes file full of random dates, and download a proper countdown app. There are about a billion of these things on the App Store, but I couldn't find a good one. So I made Up Ahead, and now there are a billion and one of them. (This one's good though.) I'm a part-time independent app developer, and Up Ahead has been a real passion project for a little over a year now. I realize a countdown app is not exactly a novel idea, but I've put a tremendous amount of effort and care into *every single detail*, and I think it amounts to an app that is genuinely fun and enjoyable to use, rather than just a get-in-and-get-out, pop-a-widget-with-a-photo-and-a-number-onto-your-homescreen kind of thing that so many of these apps do. Up Ahead's timeline view gives you a fun look at how all your events fit together, past and present. It encourages you to build a calendar of good things to peruse, rather than just setting up one-off countdowns. I've also built in a bunch of unlockables in the form of "patterns", where as you add events over time, you'll unlock more and more themed patterns in lots of interesting ways that you can use to decorate your events. This is cool, we used to do it in school where we would count down the days to when the exams would end and we could get video games out to play.
