@thedavidgay @zakpucci Think you've both missed the sarcasm. Developers HATE linked in recruiter spam. If you've got your profile open for jobs, then fair game. But when 99% of recruiters constantly pester, often with totally irrelevant offerings you tend to dislike them. If someone has their profile set to not looking for a job, you should NOT be soliciting them.

@thedavidgay @zakpucci @rick_m1 Thanks Rick, certainly didn't miss the sarcasm which is why I wanted to explain the reason why we built the app. Like you, I receive countless InMails every day from recruiters (mostly automated messages) that add ZERO value to me as I'm not currently looking. This has increased to the point that I no longer even use my InMail because it's almost 100% Spam. We don't subscribe to automated messaging or drip campaigns; we are simply here to help recruiters and salespeople connect with prospects in order to truly add value by offering opportunities that align with the candidates needs. I agree 100% that if a candidate has their profile set to Not Looking, recruiters should respect that. Thanks for your comment, we're on the same page! Regardless of your views of recruiters, there are countless stories of great recruiters reaching out to the right candidate, with the right opportunity, at the right time and changing the trajectory of that candidates life for the better.

Products like this make me really angry. You say you made it because Inmail is full of spam, so now you want my private email inbox to be full of spam too? This product and other products like it are an invasion of privacy and a complete disrespect of consent and choice. And where do you get these email addresses from? As far as I can work out (from the fact that I constantly get unsolicited emails from recruiters on an email address I haven't used for years) is that they're from the LinkedIn data breach which happened in 2012. This shouldn't be legal.

@amywilson Hi Amy, thanks for your response and I appreciate your concern. I think it’s important to delineate between products like TrueLeads, that (like ZoomInfo or ExactData) help provide contact information and products that automate spam messages and place candidates on drip campaigns etc. We’ve used TrueLeads for months and the mutually beneficial business relationships we’ve built through contacting the right people, at the right time, with the right value will last for a lifetime. Receiving a cold email is not inherently bad, abuse of automated systems to spam candidates certainly is. Happy to chat more as I appreciate that you’re passionate about this.

@true_connect Wherever you got these email addresses from (which I do heavily suspect is from a breach, even if 2nd hand, since I would never publicly post my email address or consent for it to be passed on to third parties as these "data partners" are doing), the fact is that you are selling people's data without their consent. Whether some people get a nice job out of it is irrelevant to the morality of what you're doing. I know data laws can have grey areas but I balk at the idea that a company can buy my data from some third party, give out my contact details to anyone who pays them, that person can contact me on a private address without telling me how they acquired it, and there is no way for me to opt out since not only did I not sign up, I have no idea of even the name of the company it came from. Not to mention you're providing a tool that can be abused by doxxers, stalkers and hackers. Whenever this happens to me (which is too often) I report it to the ICO, and I suggest everyone else who is a victim of this data theft and invasion of privacy should do the same.

@true_connect How gullible do you think we are? Or how naive are you yourself? The data you get from "reliable data partners" was certainly not collected in a morally sound way. Either those companies get their data from data breaches, or from people who sign up for some free goodies without realizing where their data goes. @amywilson is right. What you're doing is most certainly a breach of privacy. You know what's even worse? Your disingenous introductory post. " We love human connection and hope this extension allows you to connect with the right people at the right time" -> as if human connection is the reason you built this. You know full well that your target audience is recruiters, and the responses to this hunt prove this. I don't think you even care about human connections. Do you realize that if people _wanted_ to be contacted by email by recruiters, they'd put their email address on their LinkedIn profile? TrueLeads is the kind of product that gives Silicon Valley a bad name, even if you're not based in SV...

Great question - We initially built https://trueconnect.io/ , an SMS based meeting preparation product that served up relevant information and news about your clients/prospects and their companies prior to meetings. One of the biggest requests from users was that they wanted help getting in touch with more prospects first AND THEN they'd like help properly preparing for the meetings they set. As a result, we built the lead generation product, TrueLeads and will ultimately will reconnect the dashboard to TrueConnect in order to offer a full service lead generation/meeting preparation platform!

Nice product! I'm a recruiter and this makes it easy to quickly find personal emails while I'm on LinkedIn - thanks for building this. I was utilizing RocketReach prior and paired both up against each other for a few months with a conclusion that both locate primarily the same contact information with TrueLeads much more affordable while offering more credits per month. Are you guys looking to expand to other social platforms? GitHub?

Overall I'm impressed. Personally I'm also in need of a tool to find contact email on LinkedIn and I can see huge potential in this product. Just two questions though: 1. Do you have any plan to update this tool to be able to find email on other websites like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? 2. Would you have yearly plan in the future?

@tommyle1289 Hi Tommy, thanks for your feedback! Yes, we are currently working on extending the product to other social media platforms starting with FB and GitHub. We see this extension as a valuable entry point to the other technologies that we have “on the shelf” rolling out next year. As for an annual plan, this is something we’d like to offer, however, at this point, most of our users have enjoyed the freedom of month to month, so that’s been the focus. Thanks again!

This looks cool - We're always looking for better data sources (for sales, not recruiting) - a few quick questions: 1. I've had conversations with several people in my network recently that have been impacted by LinedIn actively looking for any tools that (may?) violate their ToS. What risks are involved with using this on our accounts? 2. How does your data compare to all the competitors? Its cool that you flag any missing profiles to go back and research, but what else sets you apart? We've probably purchased at least 5-7 similar tools over the past year, and the data quality has been so/so at best.

We do not scrape LinkedIn for any information as our extension works exclusively by matching the URL provided by Chrome with our proprietary contact database. This ensures that we don’t violate any ToS and our users avoid any action from LinkedIn. 2. Like most data providers, we work hard to update our data on a regular basis to ensure the freshest and most accurate data available. Since we partner with several of the big providers and the use services to verify each email, we’ve found our accuracy and deliverable rates are much higher than competitors in the market. We strive to continuously improve in this area vs some of our competitors who simply sit on stale databases. Hope that helps!!
