This is potentially why, though! There's tonnes of old bureaucracies that still accept faxes more easily than email, but there's no easy way to fax them so you have to struggle with however they deal with email (or worse, in-person delivery). Universities I've worked with are great examples of this. Still, I think this app costs more than it's worth for that use case for me...

how is pricing compared to other fax apps? got my answer in the app "10 or 15 credit allows you to send one page of fax. $2.99 > 50 credits. - > 0.6c per page +/-

Why does faxing something cost money anymore? What kind of overhead is required in order to send the digital packets to a physical machine?

Sends fax, but the UI is pretty bad. No idea if I'm doing anything correctly and any mistake means starting over from the beginning. When it works, it works though..
