This was my favorite of the four! The chapters outlining the JFK assassination and the aftermath was some of the most gripping writing I've read.

Remarkable for the level of details unearthed a half century later. An accompanying volume for comparison is Teddy White's famed The Making of the President: 1960, written contemporaneously yet almost entirely avoids LBJ. All of Caro's books are fabulous. (My favorite is the Means of Ascent which covers the riveting '48 Senate race.)
