I love the look of this - would be helpful in my life. I do have a few questions/issues:
1. I understand the need to charge for the app. However, if you want to install it on a lot of devices, the amount may start becoming a little hefty. Any plans for a group discount, or if you buy ~3 or 4 copies you get 50% off?
2. Teaching technophobes - like my parents - to use it may be a little tricky. An enhanced starter guide would be really awesome.
Other than that, it looks really awesome!
@giacomolaw Thanks for the questions!
1. I feel like $5 is fair for the amount of time and effort I put into launching this. I'm not sure how discounts for multiple devices works in the App Store, but I certainly will look into in!
2. There is a lot of help built into the main experience when you start it for the first time, which isn't shown in the screen shots. I intentionally designed the onboarding experience with technophobes in mind, and I tested it with my parents! The first time you run it there's a sample user with a to-do list that explains how to manage the list and add new users. When you add new users, the modal explains how to manage their list and delete users. Would love your feedback after trying it out!
Thank for checking out The Grid!
This started as a little side project to learn React Native, but the interest from other parents in my community that saw it running in our kitchen prompted me to throw it in the App Store.
I have three children and I'm well aware of the chaos during morning and bedtime routines, so I built The Grid to encourage my kids to complete their tasks each morning and night. The more items they complete each day, the happier their user's emoji becomes. They love it!
Less nagging. Happier children. More harmony.
Happy to answer any questions about The Grid or my experience with React Native!
@stirman Every parent would say the idea is cool: we are happy when our children are happy and motivated :) great project, suppose many mums and dads will love this simple and effective tool.
The UI looks similar to an old project I once saw called Standy 😜 , can't wait to try it. What was the hardest part about learning React Native? I've been meaning to dig into that for a while now.
@chriserwin 😉 For me, the hardest part of learning React Native was just learning React, which I had never used before. Once I understood the framework and philosophy, it was pretty smooth sailing. I really enjoyed coding this one up and now we're working on a React Native project at my real job, getlucid.com!
@stirman oh nice! I hadn't heard of CodePush before, very cool. I definitely need to jump into this.

Looks cool, My kids have their own iPads and are constantly on them. Can I install this on all of their iPads including mine and my wifes and have them all share the grid. This way kids could see what each other is doing and where they are at, while giving us the ability to add things..? Thanks
Great work @stirman ! We'd love to partner & give users a neat way to wall mount their iPad when running The Grid. What's the best way to get in touch?
Reminds me of the Samsung refrigerator.
Although this needs more functionality, like calendar sharing, family location sharing, smart home front door cam, light controls, etc
Thanks for this - have been meaning to put together a good old fashioned chore list for my 5-yo son for months but will now use this instead. Downloading on the iPad tonight.
