@dfoster Thank you, Danny, this is a really good question.  We believe there are two advantages to the voice messages: 1. TalkNow allows easy acknowledgement. The receiving side answers the incoming call, listened to the message and acknowledges the call with "Alright" with their voice. The calling side hears the "Alright" as the notification sound and does not need to interact with their phone. It is like Facebook “like button" in its early days. 2. Voice calling notifications are more intrusive and in some cases it may be helpful to make sure the communication from the closed one is not getting missed with the rest of the messages. Unlike the traditional voice calling these notifications will not have to be followed by the current inconvenient voice calling experience. After receiving the call and hearing the message, the receiving side is able to decide how to proceed: Acknowledge, Voice message back or Call back.

We all know that voice calling is personal and emotionally rich, yet painfully inconvenient for two key reasons: Ridiculously long call setup: Waiting for an answer while listening to the ringback tone is boring and a serious waste of time. Synchronous experience: Sometimes, you simply want to let a loved one know something important, and to hear their voice response without your message becoming lost within the rest of their messaging notifications. With TalkNow, we’re streamlining the call experience to enhance the interactions you enjoy with those close to you. You start a call by telling TalkNow who you wish to talk to and recording your message to them. You can then go about your day while TalkNow makes a call to the recipient on your behalf. TalkNow can be closed, and your phone can be locked or closed. As soon as they answer, they will hear exactly what you wished to tell them, and then they can decide how to respond. TalkNow offers three response options, and recognises their decision via voice command. The recipient can “acknowledge” your call by sending a short voice confirmation that plays on your phone without you needing to pick up. They can “message” you back, which delivers you their recorded speech just like a voice call. Or they can “call back” and proceed with the full call experience, already aware of what’s on your mind! With TalkNow, we’re trying to bring new convenience to the voice calling experience. By optimising how we engage with close friends and loved ones, we increase daily productivity for both parties and help them enjoy voice calls again.
